The 200 stone is used to remove material, redo the line of the knife, reestablish the angle of the edge, in short, all the important basic work of sharpening.

Arato-kun is very abrasive and allows quick repairs.  This is the coarse grain stone that I use by default, that is to say for almost all knives. The abrasion is clear and progressive.

Its pink color comes from its abrasive material, pink alumina (aluminum oxide), which is very resistant over time.

I highly recommend this large size (because it also exists in small) which brings real comfort in sharpening, especially for medium to large blades. As coarse stones wear out faster, the large one will be advantageous for frequent use.

If you have traditional kniveskasumi (a single-bevel knife made of two assembled steels), it will revive and bring out the differences in color of the superimposed steels,  while gradually removing material with abundant and thick filings.

Average soaking time, but I find fast for its size. She sucks well and lots of water.

High planing frequency, like any coarse grain in general, use its entire surface and plane when the surface is blackened.

Always check that you are working on a flat stone and  always use the same side of the stone, this will leave you with an always flat and straight reference side, and a well laid stone on your work surface when you sharpen.

In short, a good stone to have as a large grit first stone.

Recommended for: all types of kitchen knives .

Comfortable and economical dimensions.
